Tonight my husband made me dinner! Since we were out-of-town on my birthday he wanted to make dinner at home for me as an after birthday treat, no way was I going to say no to that! He made salad with homemade dressing, steak, and Parmesan potatoes. It was delicious! Here are the recipes he used.
Dressing (Todd made this recipe from food network)
5 or 6 Yukon Gold Potatoes
Grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 425. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cube the potatoes. Pour a couple of tablespoons of olive oil onto a sheet pan. Pour the potatoes on to the sheet pan and roll the potatoes around until they are coated in oil. Sprinkle cheese and garlic salt on top. Bake in the oven until lightly browned about 20 to 25 minutes.
1 pint of mushrooms
1/4 cup of red wine (optional)
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon Garlic salt or powder
Wash and slice mushrooms. Saute mushrooms and butter on medium to medium low heat for 2-3 minutes. Add wine and garlic powder. Cook until mushrooms are tender.
1.5 lb. inch thick sirloin steak
salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 425. Heat cast iron skillet on high heat on the stove while you prepare the meat. You want the skillet extremely hot. Salt and pepper both sides of the raw meat. Place the steak on the skillet for about a minute per side. You can even sear the sides of the meat. You just want a nice sear on both sides. After you have the meat seared, place the cast iron skillet in the oven and let the meat cook until desired temperature. We like a well done steak so we keep ours in the oven for about 20 minutes or so. Remember consuming raw or undercooked meat is not safe! After you take the steak out pour a little butter on top. You can even use flavored butter! Let the meat rest a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
